Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo

Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo

There’s something special about the holiday season  and Christmas at the Zoo has become one of the Indianapolis's most beloved traditions. Indianapolis Zoo in White River State Park, this festive event brings lights, heartwarming experiences, some animal magic, creating memories for families.

When you step inside the zoo during the holiday season, you’re greeted by thousands of sparkling lights, casting a warm glow over the grounds. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy an evening stroll, sip on a cup of hot cocoa, and take in the magic of the season. Unlike many other holiday light displays, Christmas at the Zoo offers something truly unique: the chance to see animals under the glow of festive lights. While many of the animals are tucked in for the night, you’ll still find plenty of activity in the indoor exhibits.

One of the most enchanting experiences is the Polar Pathway, a  light tunnel that makes you feel like you’re walking through a winter wonderland. It’s a favorite photo spot for families and couples alike. Children are always excited to visit Santa’s Village, where they can meet Santa himself, send a letter to the North Pole, and warm up with holiday treats.

One of the best parts of Christmas at the Zoo is how it combines the beauty of the season with the wonder of nature. Seeing animals like seals and polar bears play in the cool night air under glowing lights are just some of what you will see.

Christmas at the Zoo runs from mid-November through December 30th, giving you plenty of time to make it a part of your holiday traditions. The event is open in the evenings, which allows you to enjoy the lights to their fullest while still leaving time during the day for other holiday activities.

Bundle up warm and make your way to the Indianapolis Zoo this season.
